JDCC News welcomes aboard Liz Kurs who will write the
Jewish Deaf Young Adult columns. She is a student in her Junior year at
Poly High School in Riverside, CA.
JDCC will have an exhibit booth at the Valley Jewish Festival on June
1st. They expect 40,000 people to attend this large community event. This
year's theme is, "A Celebration of Traditions", and the festival
will take place at Los Angeles Pierce College in Woodland Hills, CA from
10 am to 6 pm. Come and visit us.
JDCC will celebrate its 5th birthday on June 8th, 1997. A big celebration
is being planned including a brand new original comedy performance. If you
would like to place a greeting announcement in the program book, please
contact us for further information.
JDCC's Five Year Calendar Project is now underway. A special five year
calendar on a write-on memo pad with magnet backing has been mailed to organizations
and Deaf Community Leaders across the country to encourage them not to schedule
Deaf events to conflict with major Jewish holidays. Responses have been
overwhelmingly positive!. You can read some email messages on the next page
from some people who received them. We have sent over 400 Calendars so far
to organizations and schools. It is also available for sale. See the back
cover for ordering information.
JDCC"s annual First-Night Passover Community Seder has been confirmed
for Monday evening, April 21st at Beth Jacob Congregation in Beverly Hills.
Cost is $25.00 per person. Seder is under RCC kosher supervision. Childcare
will be provided. Call for more information.
