We did it! JDCC turned five on June 8th! I want
to thank Jeff Dichter for an outstanding job as our Master of Ceremony!
He did a brilliant job of putting together the history of JDCC. You can
read all about the Banquet in this issue. We raised over $3,100.
I want to thank you all for your support during my mom's last days -
she passed away peacefully on June 17th. She will be sorely missed by those
of us who had the privilege of being her guests during the Holidays including
Shabbat, Passover, and High Holidays. A Phyliss Dror Jewish Education Fund
has been established in her honor. This fund will be for programs related
to Jewish Education, Sunday School, Religious School, Bar/Bat Mitzvah training,
Hebrew classes, programs for both children and adults. My mom was a strong
believer in maintaining Jewish households and wants all Jewish Deaf people
to get as much exposure to Judaism as possible. See page 15 for more details.
The High Holidays Committee is looking for people who are interested
in serving on this committee. Rosh Hashana services will be on October 2nd,
Thursday morning, and Yom Kippur will be on Saturday, October 11th.
JDCC is honored to be a recipient of a grant from Steven Spielberg's
Righteous Persons Foundation to underwrite costs of national distribution
of JDCC News.
JDCC welcomes Rabbi Rebecca Dubowe and her family back to Los Angeles,
Rabbi Dubowe will be working at Temple Adat Elohim in Thousand Oaks as part
time Associate Rabbi, and Temple Israel of Hollywood. We wish her and the
family the very best of luck and look forward to having her lead some activities
for JDCC, such as Hebrew classes, Bar/Bat Mitzvah training, tutoring, etc.
If there is a subject you are interested in, please let JDCC know and we
will try our best to arrange it.
Have a great summer! |
