I am a 17 year old high school senior at a yeshiva in New Jersey. I live in Westchester. I am very interested in the deaf community and I have taken a sign language course because I would like to be invloved and work with the deaf. I hope to take the second ASL this coming semester as well.
I am writing to you because I am interested in finding a volunteer position within the deaf community. During the spring semester I will have Friday's off from school, this is to allow us time to do our chosen volunteer work. Do you know of any volunteer work that I might be able to do through your organization? If it is in the Westchester area that would be great but I am close to Riverdale in the Bronx and other parts of New York.

I am currently a graduate student at Gallaudet University and working on a special project. I would like to have one of you to assist me to find some history on Deaf people during Old Testament era, such as What did Deaf people do, what were people's attitude toward Deaf people, had there any academic provided for Deaf people, etc. Hopefully I can obtain some information in order to expand knowledge on Jewish Deaf History as well for Deaf Studies for Gallaudet University.
