Hi Readers,
JDCC has upgraded their electronic mailing to a different mail server so
bear with us as we learn the ropes of keeping our subscribers informed with announcements.
JDCC is pleased to announce that it has confirmed arrangements for the
upcoming multimedia Community Seder in 2002! It will be held on the second evening of Passover at Adat Ari El in North Hollywood. We have
had no success locating a suitable place for the first evening. Details including an Early Bird discount is listed on page 5.
In this issue, we printed responses to JDCC's proposal for a joint Seder
with Temple Beth Solomon. I would like to take this opportunity to respond
to some issues that were presented:
Childcare is offered during the JDCC Community Seder to encourage and enable young families to participate in the Community Seder
and interact with other people. Most of us are visual-oriented so it is difficult for parents to watch the video projection screen if their child needs
attention. We also offer parents the option of having children sit at their
table, or at the children's table with childcare staff members. There is no
additional cost for childcare and parents deserve a nice break for a few hours to celebrate Passover!
How we decide location for the Community Seder. We are flexible
but need to be assured of authentic kosher certification for Passover catering in order to accommodate people from all branches of Judaism. The
ceiling at the facility also needs to be at least 11" high for the video projectors and screens to maximize viewing range whenever we stand up to
sign the blessings, etc. The rental at Adat Ari El includes space rental, security, cleaning and kosher supervision.
Please feel free to ask any JDCC Board members questions or express
your thoughts regarding the Seder proposal. We are also open for suggestions on other JDCC programs and activities. |
