    I would like to thank you for the comprehensive publication you did about deaf Jews in Argentina. I received the magazines on the mail and I will publish the article in our Kol Bet El weekly.

    Next week in our class we will read with the deaf people the article. They will feel very happy to know someone so far away is interested in them.

    I am Dr. Susan Burch from Gallaudet University's history department. I am currently writing a book (to be published by NYU Press) about American Deaf cultural history from 1900 to World War II. I am trying to find members of the Jewish Deaf community who were living during this time period and would be willing to let me interview them (by mail and/or in person) about their experiences. Most work on deaf history has neglected the Jewish community and I'd like to correct this oversight.

    I work at a large international company, and because I am an Orthodox Jew, many people ask me questions about Jewish customs. I went on your website at a friend's suggestion and noticed that in the article about Jewish mourning customs, you don't mention that a mourner does not sit Shiva on Shabbat and Yom Tov.

    A woman in my company just lost her husband, and I noticed in the announcement about her that she is sitting Shiva over this coming Shabbat and Yom Tov. Obviously she doesn't know the Halachot. Perhaps if you included this little detail in your otherwise-excellent article, you could make a difference towards Jews being able to ob serve Torah more authentically.

I have several friends who will be teaching at a Synagogue just off campus, and we have been wondering about Israeli Sign Language.
