Deaf Montgomery County Association of the Deaf, Inc. announced their plan to host the 'Maryland Deaf Festival'. The dates they chose, however, raised the ire of some people, including JDCC, who sent e-mail messages to inform show organizers that the dates they chose -September 30 and October 1, 2000 is when Rosh Hashana falls this year. Accordingly, they have announced that they will reschedule the event as not to conflict with the Jewish holiday.

This is an ongoing problem. JDCC's current Five-Year Jewish Calendar, which was developed to increase awareness as not to schedule their Deaf events during Jewish Holidays, goes up to the year 2001. We are now exploring different ideas and trying to decide on which format to use for the new 5-Year Calendar and how to increase awareness on the importance of being sure not to conflict with Jewish holidays. If you have input on how we can improve this Five-Year Calendar Project, please e-mail to JDCCNews@aol.com or fax to 818/845-9936.
